Bella Green

About Bella Green

Bella in her studio

Since 1997 Bella has lived and worked in Eskdalemuir, Dumfriesshire, Scotland, where she has made her home and studio. After many years of teaching and painting she now devotes almost all of her time to painting.

She is passionate about colour and paint - having worked for some years with computer graphics which she found interesting but personally unsatisfying - the challenge of using paint, especially oil paint, is part of a conscious choice through which the sensual earthiness and potential luminosity of the medium never ceases to inspire her.

Bella was born and brought up in Glasgow. After school, she followed her family south and did a two year Foundation Course at Harrow School of Art followed by a three year BA(Hons) in Painting at Norwich School of Art.

She also has a post-graduate degree in Art Education from Leicester University.

She has been a professional elected member of the Scottish Society of Artists and Craftsmen, now Visual Arts Scotland (VAS), since 1992.
