About Me

Since 1997 I have lived and worked in Dumfriesshire in Southern Scotland, where I have made my home and studio. I was born and brought up in Glasgow and after school I followed my family south of the border.

I did a two year Foundation Course at Harrow School of Art and a  BA(Hons) in Fine Art Painting at Norwich School of Art followed by a postgraduate year and an ATD from Leicester University.

After many years of teaching alongside  painting, I now devote all of my time to painting apart a few weeks each year when I enjoy leading painting and colour workshops at beautiful and sunny places like the Centro d’Arte Verrocchio in Tuscany.

I exhibit regularly and have work in many private collections in UK and world wide. There are works also in collection of Gracefield Arts Centre, Dumfries and the Women’s Library, Glasgow.

For many years I was as a visiting tutor of colour and drawing at the Royal College of Art in London where I worked with artists and designers from all disciplines. My passion is to help students really see and understand colour and I still enjoy finding new ways to do this.

Earlier in my teaching career I also worked at the RCA for several years as a Lecturer in Computer graphics, at the very beginning of the digital revolution. This early interest in things that computers can do as a tool for the visual artist has never left me and I now enjoy the versatility of the iPad for many aspects of my creative work.
