TEA TIME TREATS
Oil on Canvas, 41cm by 51cm, £450
A new friend brought the most unusual, brightly coloured cakes for tea. From a cafe called the ‘ Broken Clock’ in Glasgow. They just had to be painted. We had eaten them but no matter. The view? It was of one my favourite places during lockdown, Criffel seen from near Glencaple, and I am still working from many of the sketches I made there during that strange time.

RED ROOM - PALE MOON RISING
Oil on Canvas, 64cm by 64cm, £950
This started with a pattern of squarish marks in various reds. I just wanted to create mood with colour. The Inside/Outside theme was just hatching and I developed the picture gradually, first adding the flowers and then the other objects. I was also working on a series of tiny picture with a girl at a window, memories of my childhood. So to finish, I added her, gazing out at the pale moon rising.

MIDNIGHT PEARS
Oil on Canvas, 34cm by 34cm, £250
I am not an insomniac, thankfully, but I do like to gaze at the moon from my window if I am up during the night. Familiar objects and three ripe pears caught my eye, so next day they were created in paint.
